UAC in Windows 11 is still one of the most effective, low-cost security boundaries Microsoft has ever built. It’s not perfect – it doesn’t stop user-level ransomware, and it can annoy during setup – but disabling it is a serious security mistake.
Furthermore, Windows 11 distinguishes between verified publishers and unknown entities. A prompt for a signed app from Microsoft or a major developer looks different—and is often less alarming—than a prompt for an unsigned executable trying to modify system memory.
