As she sat on the shores of Lake Thun, watching the stars twinkle to life in the night sky, Lena knew that this was a trip she would never forget. Switzerland in the spring was a true gem, a time of renewal and rebirth, and she felt lucky to have been a part of it.

Known as the "Queen of the Mountains," Mount Rigi is the perfect spring hike. Unlike the towering Jungfrau, Rigi’s trails are often snow-free by May. From the top, you look down over the turquoise Lake Lucerne, while patches of snow still cling to the shadows of the northern peaks. The contrast of blue water, white snow, and green grass is uniquely Swiss.

💡 Visit Sechseläuten in Zurich (usually April). It’s a traditional festival where they burn a giant snowman (the Böögg) to predict how long winter will last. The faster his head explodes, the better the summer! If you’re planning a trip, let me know: What month are you eyeing? Do you prefer adventure sports or quiet villages ? Are you traveling by train or car ?

Some cable cars close for maintenance in late April/May to prepare for summer. Always check the local mountain timetable.
