Guide: Running MicroStation on Windows 7 1. Introduction & Compatibility

Supported Versions : MicroStation V8i (SELECT Series 3 to 6) and early CONNECT Edition (Update 5 and earlier) are the last builds fully compatible with Windows 7. Unsupported : MicroStation CONNECT Edition Update 6+ and OpenRoads/OpenBuildings 2023+ require Windows 10/11. Important : Windows 7 End-of-Life (EOL) was January 2020. Running MicroStation on Windows 7 exposes your workstation to security risks.

Update Windows 7 to SP1 and install all available updates (especially SHA-2 support). Install Visual C++ Redistributables (2010–2019). Install .NET Framework 4.7.2 or 4.8. Disable antivirus temporarily. microstation windows 7

Install MicroStation

Insert installation media or run the setup executable as Administrator . Choose Complete or Custom install – include all needed workspaces. During license setup:

After install, reboot .

4. Performance Optimization

Disable Aero theme (Right-click desktop → Personalize → Basic theme). Set graphics driver : Important : Windows 7 End-of-Life (EOL) was January 2020

For NVIDIA: Use Studio Driver (not Game Ready), version 472.xx (last Win7 driver).
