Perhaps the most intriguing aspect of the Pirate Parrot is his relationship with Swiper the Fox. In the Dora universe, Swiper is almost exclusively defined by his compulsion to steal. However, the Pirate Parrot represents a moral pivot point. In the musical special, the Pirate Parrot is instrumental in the resolution of the conflict, often providing the oversight that Swiper lacks. While Swiper is chaotic, the Parrot is lawful. He helps Dora enforce the "Swiper no swiping" rule, but in a way that is specific to the pirate context—recovering the treasure that belongs to the Pirate Piggies.
