The demise of Firefox OS marked the end of an experiment that, although innovative, was ultimately unable to gain significant traction. However, the legacy of Firefox OS lives on in the form of its influence on subsequent technologies.
By 2016, Mozilla officially pulled the plug on the smartphone project. The official ISOs vanished from the mirrors. The project was open-sourced, morphing into "B2G OS," kept on life support by a handful of die-hard open-source purists.
