In this episode, however, we see George not as the eventual tragic figure, but as a tired, blue-collar dad just trying to enjoy one night. His inability to watch the PPV fight symbolizes his larger inability to control the changes happening in his house. Sheldon is leaving, Mary is hovering, and George is left yelling at a scrambled box. It’s heartbreakingly human.
