Modern automotive Electronic Control Units (ECUs) require rigorous testing before hardware availability. Model-based design (MBD) enables early validation through simulation. This paper presents a framework where ECU behavior is modeled in Simulink/Stateflow, and textual requirements are maintained in a structured Word document. The Word document is semi-automatically linked to model elements via unique tags, enabling traceability and consistency checks. A case study of a cruise control ECU demonstrates the approach. model ecuson word
