A typical use case begins with an enterprise deploying hundreds of industrial gateways connected to various sensors on a factory floor. The IT team creates device policies and software update schedules in Pulse IoT Center. The OT team then connects the gateways; they automatically register with the platform, receive their initial configuration, and download the required edge application container. Pulse IoT Center begins monitoring key metrics: gateway CPU load, network connectivity to each sensor, and the operational status of the edge app. If a gateway's storage nears capacity, the platform alerts both teams. A new firmware patch from a vendor is tested and then pushed OTA to a subset of gateways as a canary deployment, with success or failure tracked centrally. If a gateway is physically stolen, an admin can instantly issue a remote lock and wipe command.
