Post-bloom, the Kurinji plants senesced (died) and dried up. Fire-protection measures were intensified because dry Kurinji stalks are highly flammable. The seeds lay dormant in the soil, waiting for 2030.

It teaches those who witness it that the most spectacular things are often the most fleeting. By late autumn 2018, the violet seas began to recede.
