Boruto | 122

Boruto Episode 122 is not a masterpiece. It won’t convert detractors who despise the sequel. But for those still watching, it offers a quiet reassurance: the series understands that its protagonist’s strength should not be raw power, but perspective. Boruto wins not because he is the son of the Hokage or a vessel for a god, but because he sees through the self-deception of revenge.

The One-Tails provides a mix of tension and comic relief, often bickering with the Genin while they navigate the desert. boruto 122

This episode is a showcase for Shikadai. Much like his father, Shikamaru, he approaches the situation with a calm, strategic mind. He acts not just as a bodyguard, but as a moral anchor for Kakeru. He challenges Kakeru's nihilism, arguing that running away is a continuous struggle, and that one must choose their own path, even if it is difficult. Boruto Episode 122 is not a masterpiece

Following the previous episode's setup, Kankuro stays behind to fend off Urashiki Otsutsuki’s puppets, allowing Boruto, Shinki, and Shukaku to continue their mission. Boruto wins not because he is the son

Fans frequently debate Kankuro’s power level in this episode, with some feeling he was "nerfed" to raise the stakes, while others appreciated seeing his tactical brilliance even in a losing battle. Why This Episode Matters

Shikadai, true to his nature as a pragmatic yet deeply loyal shinobi, refuses to let Kakeru take the easy way out. He uses his Shadow Possession Jutsu not to fight enemies, but to restrain Kakeru, forcing him to listen. Shikadai delivers the episode's core message: a decision made out of fear is not a decision at all.

On paper, he is a Sasori-lite. In execution, however, the episode cleverly avoids the trap of imitation. Kankitsu’s puppets aren’t humanoid masterpieces; they are rugged, utilitarian, and animalistic (a scorpion tail, a spider-like trap). The choreography is rough, scrappy, and refreshingly low-tier. Unlike Sasori’s hundred puppets or the later Otsutsuki dimensional warping, this fight feels like a ninja fight again. Boruto can’t spam Rasengan or vanishing tricks; he has to think, dodge, and use wire strings of his own.
