His journey began in Srirangam. Standing before the massive temple of Ranganatha, Parthasarathy saw the Lord lying on the Adisesha, the serpent bed. He remembered the list: Sri Rangam.
He fell asleep under the stars. In his dream, the Lord did not speak, but He showed Parthasarathy a garland. The garland had 108 flowers. If one flower was missing, the garland broke. divya desam list
From that day on, Parthasarathy stopped mapping lands. He began mapping the verses of the Alwars, teaching the young that while the list of the Divya Desams guides the feet, the love within them guides the soul. His journey began in Srirangam

Parthasarathy realized the first lesson of the Divya Desams: The Lord surrenders to His devotees. He marked Srirangam off his list, but he didn't use ink. He etched it into his memory with the scent of incense and the sound of the temple bell.
