If the INF says VID_1234 but the device reports VID_5678 , Windows will simply ignore your driver. You can find the correct IDs in Device Manager > Details tab > Hardware Ids.
Legacy INFs often only supported 32-bit systems ( x86 ). Modern Windows requires explicit entries for NTamd64 (64-bit) and increasingly NTarm64 . If you omit these, the driver won't install on modern hardware. windows driver inf
