The material was a white, calcified substance resembling bone, but harder than diamond. Elias drifted closer, his breath fogging the inside of his helmet. The structure twisted upward, a fluted column that corkscrewed in on itself. It was a Möbius strip of stone. It shouldn't have been able to stand under the crushing weight of the ocean, let alone support the bulbous, tumorous growths that ballooned out from its sides.
