Easynews operates as a web service. When Sonarr/Radarr grabs a file through this indexer, the download happens over HTTPS via your browser session. This effectively acts like a VPN, masking your traffic from your ISP without needing a third-party VPN connection active 24/7.
While standard indexers allow incredibly complex boolean search strings, Easynews' search API is a bit more rudimentary. easynews-as-indexer tries to bridge this gap, but very occasionally, you might find a search query fails that would work on a dedicated indexer.
Once your bridge is running, you can add it to to sync it across all your "Arr" apps.
Easynews often indexes files that other NZB sites miss because it searches the raw Usenet headers rather than just pre-built NZB files.
