Rocksteady employs the Codex as a subtle tool for foreshadowing. Early in the game, the entry for mentions his obsession with “theatrical fear” and his unknown whereabouts—hinting at his master plan. More strikingly, the Arkham Knight’s own Codex entry initially provides only vague physical descriptions and theories. Today, Batman: Arkham Knight is frequently available for a few dollars on official storefronts, and most of the original performance bugs have been patched out by Rocksteady. However, for those interested in the history of software reverse engineering, the CODEX name will always be synonymous with the "definitive" (if unofficial) way many first experienced the conclusion to the Dark Knight’s story.
