This study draws on the theoretical framework of the digital economy and the cultural industries. The digital economy refers to the economic activities that are enabled by digital technologies, such as online platforms and social media (Donovan, 2016). The cultural industries refer to the production, distribution, and consumption of cultural goods, such as films and TV shows (Garnham, 1990). This study also draws on the concept of piracy and its impact on the film industry (Harcourt, 2005).
