The penetration of Hollywood cinema into the Indian subcontinent has historically been constrained by linguistic barriers, limiting its audience primarily to urban, English-speaking elites. However, the last decade has witnessed a paradigm shift. This paper investigates the strategic deployment of Hindi audio tracks (dubbing) as a tool for decolonizing the Hollywood viewing experience in India. Moving beyond the "subtitling vs. dubbing" debate, this study argues that Hindi dubbing serves three critical functions: (1) – enabling Marvel, DC, and Disney franchises to penetrate Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities where Hindi is the lingua franca; (2) Cultural Translation – analyzing how dubbing scripts localize Western idioms, jokes, and cultural references (e.g., replacing "Thanksgiving" with "Diwali" or using Hinglish slang) without losing narrative core; and (3) Voice Actor Stardom – the rise of dubbing artists (e.g., Sanket Mhatre as the "Hindi voice of Robert Downey Jr.") as minor celebrities.
