Tampa Bay Stadium Ship Jun 2026

When the Tampa Bay Buccaneers unveiled plans for their new stadium in 1996, the NFL was in a gray era of cookie-cutter concrete bowls. Every new venue promised “fans first” and “luxury suites” — corporate, clean, forgettable.

And in a league where stadiums are increasingly named after banks and airlines, the ship remains stubbornly, joyfully unsponsored. No company logo on the hull. No “Pirate Ship presented by Crypto.com.” Just weathered planks, flapping black flags, and the occasional smoke ring drifting lazily into the Florida sky.

The iconic "Stadium Ship" (formally known as the Raymond James Stadium pirate ship) is located inside the stadium and is accessible to fans attending Tampa Bay Buccaneers games or stadium tours.

The ship was a centerpiece for the 2026 NHL Stadium Series , where the field was designed with a Gasparilla theme , including treasure maps and pirate floats, for the game between the Tampa Bay Lightning and Boston Bruins .

On Mondays, after the crowds leave, the ship is silent. The cannons are locked. The flags droop. Maintenance crews hose down the deck, polish the bronze rails, and check for rust.

Before games, fans can board via a ramp near section 148. Inside, you’ll find:

There used to be a large pirate ship in the "Buccaneer Cove" fan zone outside the stadium for tailgating, but the primary iconic vessel is the one inside the bowl.
