Maximum Demand — Electrical

Mark paled. "Dark? The servers? We can't lose the servers."

In simple terms, is the highest average amount of power (measured in kilowatts, kW, or kVA) that you draw from the electrical grid or a generator over a specific, short period—typically 15, 30, or 60 minutes. electrical maximum demand

"Mark, we have a problem," called out Sarah, the lead electrical engineer. She was staring at the main power intake monitor. "The load is climbing fast. The outdoor temperature is 40°C (104°F), and every AC unit in the building is screaming." Mark paled

If your bill uses (instead of kW) for demand, a poor power factor will increase your kVA demand. Adding capacitors improves power factor and lowers kVA demand. (Note: If billed in kW, power factor correction doesn't directly reduce kW demand). We can't lose the servers
