The film begins with Oh Dae-su (played by Choi Min-sik), a successful businessman who is kidnapped and held captive in a luxurious but isolated room. For 15 years, Oh Dae-su is fed, entertained, and kept company by a TV that broadcasts his every move to the world. Dae-su’s revenge on Woo-jin is ultimately meaningless. He tracks him down, threatens him, but Woo-jin has already planned his own exit—suicide, leaving Dae-su alive to suffer his new reality. Revenge doesn't heal; it just creates new victims.
