This film is a loose adaptation of the Argentine masterpiece The Secret in Their Eyes (2009). While the original Argentine film won an Oscar and is considered a classic of the genre, the Korean adaptation distinguishes itself by trading some of the original's gritty political commentary for high-gloss cinematography and intense emotional melodrama.
The story follows Sung-min, a manager at a cleaning company, who has a secret crush on his co-worker, Eun-ji. Desperate to clear his name and find the real killer, he teams up with a former detective who was on the case.
