Navigation is the most fundamental skill in Navisworks (Manage, Simulate, or Freedom). Whether you are reviewing a 3D building model, clash detecting MEP systems, or creating a construction animation, moving through the model smoothly is critical. Navisworks offers several navigation modes, but the three most common are , Orbit Mode , and Zoom Mode .
There are four main steering wheels/tools you need to know:
Select any object(s) in the Selection Tree or viewport, then press Ctrl + Z . Navisworks will instantly frame that object perfectly on your screen.
With these tools and shortcuts, you can confidently explore any Navisworks model — from a single room to an entire infrastructure project. Practice switching between (for immersion) and Orbit (for inspection), and always remember to save your viewpoints before moving far away.
