The story kicks off with Sheldon acting uncharacteristically moody and irritable. While his mother, Mary, fears he is heading down a dark path, the family eventually discovers that Sheldon has taken up smoking—stealing cigarettes from Meemaw—to suppress his appetite while the family fasts for a church drive. However, the true heart of the episode lies in the subplot. When Meemaw comes to pick Sheldon up from school, she meets the recently divorced Mr. Snively.
