The "heroic" image of the Emperor is stripped away, revealing a man desperate for a lifeline that the Sisterhood is refusing to throw.

While the Sisterhood deals with metaphysical rebirth, the Imperium faces a political one. Emperor Javicco Corrino, often portrayed as a man trapped by his own station, begins to unravel.
