This paper examines the objectives, activities, and impact of the UMT GSM Forum, a collaborative platform dedicated to bridging research and practice in GSM-based mobile networks under the UMT framework. It highlights the Forum’s contributions to interoperability, spectrum efficiency, and emerging GSM-based IoT applications.
