Georgia Tech was a pioneer in the "OMS" (Online Master of Science) movement. The is a full Master’s degree delivered primarily via the edX platform (and supported by Udacity for some specific course components). Note: As of 2026, Georgia Tech has also

The rise of Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) has transformed the way we approach education, offering unprecedented access to high-quality learning materials and experiences. However, understanding the effectiveness of these courses and identifying areas for improvement remains a significant challenge. In this paper, we present an analysis of student engagement and learning outcomes in edX courses from Georgia Tech, a pioneer in online education. Using a combination of data mining and statistical techniques, we investigate the relationships between student behavior, demographics, and academic performance in a set of edX courses. Our results provide insights into the factors influencing student success and suggest strategies for enhancing the online learning experience. Georgia Tech was a pioneer in the "OMS"
